These bearings allow some angular misalignment
of the shaft and can accommodate axial loads in both directions.
The bearing consists of a double row of rollers in a cage running
on a spherically ground outer raceway.The rollers are ground
to match the curve of the outer raceway and the inner raceway
must therefore also be profiled. The self aligning capability
plus the ability to accommodate combined loads make this a popular
bearing however they are not generally used where the overall
diameter exceeds 100mm. |
